10 Home Décor Trends that will be Huge in 2016

1. Black Stainless Steel: The most popular appliance colors are always seeming to change every few years, and it looks like the days of polished stainless steel are on their way out. Instead of those gleaming silver appliances, it is predicted that the trend of the future will be sleek, black stainless steel.

2. Formal Dining Rooms: It seems that we are more than ready for sit-down family meals to make their return, and thankfully, it has been reported that more homeowners are wanting to keep their formal dining rooms, rather than converting them into offices or media rooms.

3. Mismatched Cabinets: Although there is nothing wrong with an all-white kitchen, there is something extra special about going bold, and adding some texture or a little color to the space. You could even take little risk and pair two different cabinet styles together.

4. Heated Entryway Floors: In the past, when you think of heated floors, bathrooms are usually the only room that comes to mind. Wouldn’t it be beyond brilliant to bring that technology into your entryway? Especially in the winter, when you could step out of your snowy boots onto a nice toasty floor!

5. Statement Bathroom Mirrors: Sure a rectangular, plain mirror is sure to get the job done, but the singular detail of a statement mirror can add so much to an oft-overlooked space like a bathroom.

6. Bidets: In the United States bidets have never really caught on, but now that high tech toilets can come with a bidet feature, they’re popularity is slowly rising. It is reported that 5% of master bathrooms have a bidet, and that number could climb even higher throughout the year if their popularity continues to grow.

7. Tech-Less Living Rooms: Digital-free-living rooms can look smart without being full of gadgets. Not that tech-filled homes are going anywhere, but more and more families are deciding to keep their family rooms unplugged, in order to facilitate more family time.

8. Fireplaces: These charming home accents (even the non-working fireplaces) are once again becoming the main focal points of rooms. People are opting to arrange their furniture to put the fireplace center state, instead of placing a large TV above it, or ignoring it all together.

9. Bathrooms that Feel Like Living Spaces: Bathrooms are the one space in your house that seems to be constantly overrun by clutter, but this year that is all about to change. It is predicted that 2016 will be the year to take your bathroom back! The way to achieve that goal is to introduce some homey items to it, such as fresh flowers or a plush chair.

10. Mixed Materials in Kitchens: This year, kitchens will turn in their perfect, polished look for a more eclectic vibe. Homeowners will turn to a variety of opposing styles instead of only incorporating only one or two materials, to create a truly personalized space.
