2016 Top Housing Market in Nation: Denver, CO


Zillow, the online real estate company, is predicting that the Denver area will be the hottest market in residential real estate in the country, in 2016. The predictions were made by looking at the rising home appreciation, low unemployment rates, and strong income growth.

According to the latest prediction from Zillow, the Denver metro area will be number 1 in 2016, making Seattle and Dallas second and third in the prediction.

Zillow also predicts the homes in Denver will appreciate 5% this year, an annual unemployment rate of 3.1%, and that income will grow 1.1%. Combining these three variables and forming a "hotness score" is how the top ten list is formed.

Zillow's prediction for the top 10 markets this year are:

1. Denver, Colorado

2. Seattle, Washington

3. Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas

4. Richmond, Virginia

5. Boise, Idaho

6. Ogden, Utah

7. Salt Lake City, Utah

8. Omaha, Nebraska

9. Sacramento, California

10. Portland, Oregon

The five Denver metro neighborhoods predicted to see the biggest home value growth are found in Aurora.

*Delmar Parkway: 9.1 percent forecast home value growth

*Highline Villages: 8.7 percent forecast home value growth

*Centretech: 8.6 percent forecast home value growth

*Laredo Highline and City Center North: 8.5 percent forecast home value growth

*North Aurora: 8.3 percent forecast home value growth
